What do you dislike about your current table? To answer your question, I would stick with square but round might work also.

Tried of the glass and chrome look. It's a rectangle shape.

Since the furniture is not symmetrical to the fireplace, I would use round nesting tables. With this set, the lower table could be centered to the fireplace.

I cannot. The sofa on the left is against the wall, and the right in front of a sliding door.

Does the one on the left need to be against the wall or will it interfere with the walking path to place it closer to the fireplace? I assume it will block the walkway.

It would iinterfere with the passage to the other rooms. See door on the left.

I like the table style but I think it blends in too closely with your floors unless you have a rug. I don't see one in the photos. Also, nesting tables will do a better job disguising the sofas being off centered from the fireplace.

I think you should post more of photos of the room so that we have a better idea of the space. I really love your style of furniture but right now it seems like a lot of furniture in a small room. Imo the latest coffee table would look great with your furnishings but it might still seem off balanced with the fireplace. Maybe there is a way to balance everything that cannot be seen with the one photo.

Good morning, The room size is 20 x 16 open floor plan. Attached is an old photo showing the two couches arranged in an L- shape and the white chairs in front of the slide door. This shows a better symmetrical with the fireplace. Your thoughts?

If this were my space I would put the two chairs against the wall, one sofa in front of the fireplace, and one sofa in front of the window. I would get rid of both end tables and replace the lamps with either an eyeball lamp or a chandelier over the coffee table. I think the space needs to be grounded with a rug. Since a traditional one won't work, I would use a dark cowhide rug. I like a bit of funk and I think your space could benefit from a little color. I would look for a round red or orange coffee table. If that is not your cup of tea then I would do a light color round coffee table that contrasts with the cowhide.

I think with the new configuration symmetry will not be as much of an issue.

Replacing the glass coffee table with a wooden one will make the living room appear warmer and comfortable.

Do you really need the two sofas in this space? It would look and function better with one less sofa. A rug would be very nice too.

Make sure you are confident in layout and pieces before you order/choose new coffee table. In any case, choose coffee table in size and shape that those seated are within 18” of reach from seating. Then you can decide on additional table needs if any

I really prefer the old arrangement, with the chairs in front of the windows. A solid couch there blocks the view out the window; you can at least see around the chairs. I also think a large piece like a sofa stands up better to a large solid wall than two smaller chairs do.

I would arrange the furniture how you prefer, then get some large pieces of cardboard to set on top of your current table, cut in different sizes and shapes (appliance stores often have shipping boxes for refrigerators that work for getting large pieces of cardboard) to see what you feel works best for your set up. I like the glass because of the openness, but understand the desire for something new and different.

In the old configuration, you have room for a table between the chairs, so the chairs don't need to use the coffee table. In the new arrangement, the chairs are much closer together, so a much larger table is required to make it accessible to all 3 sides of the room. Two smaller squares or rectangles might also work
