That looks very tight for a bloodgood. You might check out bihou maples. Much smaller with yellow bark for attractive winter branches.

No way will a Bloodgood fit there! It is one of the largest growing cultivars of Japanese maple, getting almost the same size as the species.

If that area receives a good deal of shade (as it appears), I'd stick to a green leaf form. Red leafed maples tend to lose coloring if in much shade. You could try Mikawa Yatsubusa. This is a true dwarf, getting only about 6'-8' tall in time, so will remain in scale with that space. It has a very sculptural habit with staggered layers of chartreuse green leaves that will brighten the area.

Not to argue but lets think in 4 dimensions. Fit is an interesting term for trees.

A Metasequoia will fit there for a few years. If that is THE tree you want, are you better to have loved and attempted to relocate or never to of loved at all?

In your case, what if it fits for a decade? There are hundreds of other cultivars, many slower growing. It will cost more to get a decent sized slower growing transplant.

What side of the house is that spot?

If it's the north side, better to find a tree that can take mostly shade for much of the day.

eta: possibly Taxus or Dwarf hemlock.

I wish I could grow Mikawa Yatsubusa. It would look great in that spot.
