entryway questions

In my entryway, I have a vintage buffet table and I was wondering, does my lamp need to be taller? I do plan to put a oval mirror above the buffet table.

It’s a lovely antique piece. Is the rest of your decor very traditional? More transitional? I definitely would like a larger lamp to help balance the mirror - and that could be more transitional if that is your style. Honestly never really been a fan of those little Tiffany lamps. You probably need something bigger that will give you more light. If this is the entry table, is it a place where people might put down keys, etc.? What is on top - a fringed mat? Can’t tell from the photo. If a mat, would you consider putting on a piece of glass to protect the top? At least as much as you can with the rail in the back.

Sorry the picture is not any clearer, I didn’t notice that until I posted it. I just bought this piece today, I love it scarf I put on top my grandma crocheted it. I just put that up there for some light. I’m thinking about a round mirror With gold or black trim around it. . I would have to takeoff the brass railing on the back. To place the glass topI thought about taking the brass piece off, but there would be four tiny holes in the wood. This piece is mahogany and I really love it. I think I will leave the brass railing on it, my house tends to be traditional. I was wondering if I should look for a lamp that is about 24 inches high including the shade. The height of the table is 37 inches and the width is 20 inches. The only one that comes in my front door is company. The table is not used to put keys on.

Should I look for a tradition or vintage lamp. My living room is traditional/: electic decor?

DO NOT REMOVE THE BRASS RAIL. It is a beautiful piece. The lamp is Victorian so style clashes with buffet. I would add an upright shape mirror above this piece. Nothing round. A pair of simple Buffet lamps in brass would look lovely. I am happy you are honoring your Grandmother but I would put the runner in a bedroom. It’s a bit too fussy for the buffet IMO. I will post sone ideas for you. Bbl

Do something like this. Shop around for a small brass low dish for keys in center or add pretty floral arrangement.

The arched mirror repeats the arched knee hole in the buffet. Looks unified but not too ornate.

I like the brass lamps that you showed however they are$180.00 for each and that is too expensive for my budget. I will be looking for something similar..

Sure. I was aiming for styling examples. Then you can shop including Facebook Marketplace, Etsy and other sources.

How do you think this style of lamp would look on this table? I realize they are two different sizes but when I got home, I noticed that which type do you think it’s that table the best. My mirror should be here on Tuesday.
