Ceiling fan in kitchen?

last year

We’re building a home in the tropics. The kitchen will have excellent shading and natural ventilation, with huge windows along the counter run and patio doors opposite, plus several other windows. There will be an outdoor bbq as well for some cooking, but prep will be indoors primarily.

No A/C.

I feel like we should have a ceiling fan in the kitchen. But a ceiling fan over the prep zone likely means no pendants over the island. We can have pot lights of course. Our architect is very anti-ceiling fan in this location, for aesthetic reasons. I get it.

So what do you think: trust the natural ventilation? Use smaller portable fans if needed? Or absolutely have ceiling fans??
