flowering shrub w oak-like leaves?

A friend is looking to scale back her garden significantly and has offered me a bunch of stuff. In the mix is this shrub, she doesn’t know what it is but says it will get flowers in a few weeks. Figured I would find out what it is before I decide if and where to plant it in my own garden :-) any insight greatly appreciated. First picture is from right now, second picture is from last year when it flowered

    Btw it isn't a shrub. It's a herbaceous perennial. It does spread, although ime the pink cultivars less so than the white. It flowers in late summer, rather than in a few weeks.
