We have a space in our basement that we will be doing a custom built in couch. It’s not that we really wanted one, but how the design is coming together for better spacing in the area. It is a downstairs couch that will be used for tv watching and lounging.

Can you comment on the drawing below? We are going to probably keep seat height at 18” and try to push the bottom down a bit so the seat cushion can be taller than the 3”. Do you think we can still get comfort with a 3” seat cushion?

To us the seat height looks good, seat depth looks good but the back height seems small? Although comparing it to the Crate and Barrel Axis, which is comfy, we could have a similar setup of the back cushion went about the back rest. Although in that scenario maybe the back rest would be flush to the top? The current design has a slight lip at the top of the back rest.

We are not experts on this, so are open to any comments!
