Need opinion on the best color of this Pottery Barn dining table

I ordered Pottery Barn Toscana Dining Table in Vintage Amber. I like this dark brown color, but unfortunately this color won't ship until September.

The color they have available much earlier is TUSCAN CHESTNUT - a bit "redder" and lighter dark brown. What do you think about this color? Does it make sense for me to wait? My dining room is shown below as well for reference.

My dining room (not a great picture, but the walls are painted in Pure White):

What chairs will you have? Will you have a rug? What colors will you use in adjacent areas?

I didn't buy them yet. There are lots of them on Wayfair that kind of match (brown or dark brown legs and light/linen/ivory upholstery). Like these: https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/wade-logan-brently-upholstered-dining-chair-w006903626.html?piid=1920104185 and these https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/mercury-row-etna-upholstered-side-chair-w001882867.html?piid=2106204205

What about colors? Some browns go better with certain colors than other browns. I don't think either is a bad color; it really comes down to what you prefer. I prefer the lighter myself and like how the legs of the table in your last chair link go with those chairs, and it's a lighter, warmer brown.

Your room is nicer than the table. What do you love about the Pottery Barn? What is the look you want in the room when finished? Do you have some inspo pics? Have you scoured the consignment stores near you?

Why do I ask? Because there is a lot of Chinese junk out there in "furniture land", that's why I ask : )

I want a high quality solid wood table that is dark brown or cherry or espresso and costs below 2K. I haven't found any other one but this Pottery Barn. Yesterday visited Ashley Furniture. They had a similar table made of engineered wood for half the price. But it seemed less durable.

There is no "high quality" table below 2k that will be found on your internet.

It will likely be found in a local consignment venue or Facebook Marketplace.

Why? Because the clueless as to quality, want what YOU are considering : )

The espresso, the cherry, the mahogany? Style depending, that is where you will find it, and maybe for less than two k but ten times the quality. It won't look like the Pottery Barn.

    Case in point:

Here's one near me, two leaves, WITH six chairs......1899.00

So.....it's not the chair you would select, right?

You find something that rings your bell? You sell the chairs. This is only an example. You use your area.

    Here's one in Bucks county

    Just sayin.....

So ”high quality” is going to be subjective.

The Pottery Barn table is wood, but it has a veneer finish. Which is fine but wanted to make sure you saw that.

I do. Not expecting perfection for this price point. But my question was about the color

You sould order the color swatches and compare them to your floor. Trusting colors online is really tough due to differences in screen colors and filters on original photos.

Also, have you looked at Amish made furniture?

My floor is much lighter than both colors.

Yes, i can see that your floor is lighter. The two colors youre talking about have different undertones. One will go better with your floors than the other. For $2k, the best way to determine tnis is to see the color in person, in your home.

I don't have this type of sensibility to know which one would go better with my floor. That's why I am asking here.

Stop worrying on the floor. You want a rug under the table, anyway

If you order the samples, you can take pictues of them with your floors and repost here for help.. $2k is a lot of money to spend on something without seeing the color in person first.

I ordered an Amish built table. iI had 15 different samples between wood types and stains to choose the one i wanted.

FWIW, My personal opinion on your two options is the tuscan chestnut. The amber looks solid and too dark.

Good point. Yes I will. Various consignment venues are not a good option for me

    1) I have zero understanding of these issues and don't want to buy used stuff

    2) I live in an apartment building that requires insurance certificate for any delivery. So I will have to arrange for that for extra $$$

    3) you get no warranty or support when buying used stuff

If you think you are getting a "warranty" or support with the PB table? You've lost your mind. You won't. Ever. Take that advice to the bank.

You need to have an eye for design to make consignment/used/antique pieces work. Theres nothing wrong with OP being uncomfortable with that.

If you think PB is not a good option, offer them one that meets their criteria.

Exactly. Plus, I live in NYC and haven't seen anything good at these shops here.

Have you considered that you will be losing seating on the ends? I wouldn’t settle on anything you are unsure of and suggest aiming to complement the flooring (which will also make finding chairs much easier). Since you like PB, here is a nice table that is very adaptable style wise.

Look on line to get a sense of what chairs will work with your table, but also think big picture -how do you want the room to feel. PB has some chairs that would work well.

To respond to this question on "how I would want the room to feel", I will feel fine either way. I don't have this design sensibility, my wife doesn't either. It is just that I bought a new apartment so the question what to buy came up and I am trying to solve it. Jan is suggesting Room and Board - yes, they seem to have nice tables. The ones that I like (thick and sturdy) cost way more: https://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/dining-and-kitchen/tables/corbett-extension-tables

    https://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/dining-and-kitchen/tables/walsh-extension-tables

and I actually like the design & look of the table I am buying at Pottery Barn more.

The Amish stores online is another good option - if someone has any good links to share, please do.

Heres one source for Amish furniture online.

Depending on where you live (assuming in US) , smaller indendent furniture companies in your area may also carry Amish furniture. I live in NY and there are a few local to me that are less expensive than this website.

    Heres another:

Ive only seen the Tuscan color in person, so I cant compare to the Vintage Amber. However, this table is very well constructed, heavy and dark brown in color. Its very beautiful in person. Its been out for many years and I have seen it released in Seadrift, however its original Tuscan is nicer. It probably one of their best sellers and leans towards the rustic style. It does not have a smooth surface, as its has a distressed surface. This table is 183 pounds so get the white glove service.

My daughter bought a similar pottery barn table ten years ago. It has been amazing!!! Three children later it is going strong and her kiddos do everything on it as in paint, clay, glue, water, juice, breakfast, lunch, dinner. It is an amazing table. She bought one long bench on one side and leather chairs for each end and the other side of the table. Wait for the color you want; you won't regret it. Use a folding table in the meantime.
