What did you end up doing

Sorry we missed providing you input months ago! The good news is that in a cold zone they're unlikely to either be house eaters. Renae is too tender for me in zone 5/6, so she'll probably survive for you without getting huge. She might not climb, but Jasmina certainly will.

As far as spacing, I put my climbers more or less as close as any other rose at the roots, as long as they have room to get nutrients. Their growth will be directed upwards (and sideways as you go) so they don't need as much ground space. You will want to attach the canes to the trellis and angle them sideways as they grow. If it's a wide trellis or fence, I train climbers horizontally so that the laterals grow upright and that's what blooms. If it's a narrow trellis, you'd attach the canes angling first to one side then the other in a soft "S" kind of pattern. If there are two climbers on the same trellis, I'd tend to go in opposite S patterns.

In some zones, any two climbers on the same trellis might be a recipe for disaster, and in any zone it has to be sturdy enough. If it's just a 6' panel standing by itself, even in a cold zone you're going to need some sturdy support for the trellis or it'll fall over with the weight of the rose. If it's only 6' tall, Jasmina at least will climb higher than that in your zone so you definitely want to make use of horizontal space.

Bottom line though is that there aren't really mistakes. If they aren't compatible with each other, you can move them in early spring. A photo of whatever you decided can help us advise you.
