Possible to replace deck with brick steps?

last modified: 2 years ago

We are moving into this 1891 farmhouse in two weeks and would like to do a landscaping overhaul. First we are prioritizing removing the deck and replacing with new stairs (ideally brick or something similar). We then plan to add a small bluestone patio (around 13 by 13).

Our front steps are brick and there is a brick fireplace on the side. We need to fix a drainage issue on the side as well and hopefully add flagstone type pathway and new gate. I was hoping to coordinate with those brick materials. I really don’t like the maintenance of wood stairs. We plan to live here 10+ years and willing to spend extra for something low maitenance and classy look.

I think the steps would need a platform to break it up. There are a lot of steps. Our backyard is not big (we are in an urban area). With our house being wood, I wanted to add more stone/brick materials.

Any thoughts or ideas? Thank you!
