Specific fertilizers for specific plant types are unnecessary and a waste of money. Just one good, well balanced liquid fertilizer can work well for just about any plant type. Dyna Gro 9-3-6 or Miracle Gro blue powder provide nutes in the most desirable ratios plus offer a full range of trace elements. Apply weekly, weakly.

A local gardening store plants the hanging baskets and planters in town. They use Fertilome Blooming and Rooting once a week. They are gorgeous and huge by the end of summer.

I tend to use any old tomato fertiliser (just a wee bit heavier on the potassium) does for all my summer annuals.

I use Osmocote, which is time-released -- fertilize once at planting time and that's it for the season.

If you use a ”potting soil” like Happy Frog, is feeding still needed? The soil supposedly has all the goodies contained within the mix.
