Orange Blossom Trail looks so good, I especially like that one. All your seedlings are nice, I really like the last one. Your Fulva seedlings always blow my mind, I guess I am just surprised at what you can do with them!

Overall would you recommend Orange Blossom Trail? I like the form and color but haven't seen alot of posts on how well it performs with regards to blooms and increases. Seedlings look good.

Julia, I would say Orange Blossom Trail survives for us. IIt doesn't get to registered stats here and hasn't increased much either.

I like your seedlings the best today. Bob has some nice fulva crosses. Please refresh my memory about crossing fulva, is there any advantage or experimenting for fun with what you create.

Sherry, I think Bob was just curious to see how quickly he could get to modern faces when using fulva. After all, Fulva is the source of eyes and edges and colors other than yellow in modern hybrids.

Also, we have been concerned that so many northern hybridizers are using southern genetics to get that 'southern face' that tenderness is appearing in many new hybrids. I don't want to name names, but there are several hybridizers whose plants don't seem very hardy anymore. Bob is finding a resilience, toughness, hardiness in the fulva offspring that we see lacking in some other hybrids. They seem less susceptible to late frosts, for one thing.

It's been a fun experiment and Bob has found that in two to three generations you can get back the modern look. He is hoping to register a couple next year.

I have always thought Bob’s fulva program to be one of the more interesting out there in hybridizing world. Those results are really impressive.

The Ebony Pools seedling has that velvety look. Your Orange Blossom Trails is so much darker than mine. Maybe the heat? The form is the same but the color is pale-I don’t think I even took a photo of the blooms.

I think the idea of getting back to hardy daylilies is a great path to work on. I agree, there are too many daylilies that languish even here. I consider my zone to be pretty moderate, it is now zone 7. Before you know it I will have to worry about rust! But I have had newer evergreens than linger in anguish til they disappear.

Orange Blossom Trail is such a pretty orange! You know I love Lillian's Thin Ice, but grubs have just about done mine in. Bob's Fulva seedlings are looking good. The second one is my favorite of the group because of the excellent color contrast and the excellent edge.

Who is the hybridizer of Fox Lake and how has it performed? The big eye is appealing even if I don't usually go for such recurved segments. Yes, very interesting seedlings.

Mantis, the hybridizer of Fox Lake Ziconic is Wally Zollman, who lives in Indianapolis. FL Ziconic has not wowed me with its vigor and is quite short with a low bud count this year. It's a rather strange color and has more recurve on the petals than I like. I didn't intend to buy it--Wally donated several of his to a club sale and we bid on Bernadini. When he delivered our plant, it was the wrong one. We never bothered to make it right.
