Where are you located? California? Florida? Hawaii? Are there concerns like a need for drought-tolerant plants? We need a zone. I'd fill it with flowers.

Talk to a good local nursery about good plants for a hot spot. You'll need things like succulents and other plants that will tolerate full Florida sun. All the surrounding pavement will up the heat factor as well.

Camper pad? Are you going to be parking something there most of the time? If you are, I would want some type of hedge to block and soften the view. Pitch Apple would be a great choice. We planted some in FL just over 2 years ago and ours is already a nice 10 ft high hedge. It grows like a weed here!

Agreed, you have too many hard surfaces going on here. I'd landscape it with lush green shrubs and tall grasses that thrive in your climate. Then you will have little need for mulch or rocks. If you want flowers, make some flowering. Also dot the whole deck area with planters too with greenery and flowers. Soften the edges.

I would paint the cabana a pretty color…pale aqua?….pale peachy orange?..pale lime green?…too much white can be blinding on any sunny day…and it bounces the sunlight where a color will absorb it a little ..don’t want to be squinting on a sunny day🤷🏻‍♀️..or wearing sunglasses that will leave untanned spots around the eyes……also hooks placed in convenient spots to hang colorful beach towels when wet ….will be handy and add some pretty color..easy to move umbrellas for the hottest days will be useful as well….

Another suggestion, for something with height and fragrant flowers, and some shade - plumeria/frangipani. It can also thrive with little care and is very drought tolerant, once established - comes in a variety of colors as well...

How about fake grass and some big pots filled with seaonal plants I would not do grasses that in a wing blow stuff intot he pool . I have fake grass around my pool and pots for plants I love the easy care for the grass .Trees shed leaves so still into the pool with a breeze. I do think the cabana painted acolor is a great idea.

I would want something soft with low shedding due to the pool. I don’t know how well they work in your zone but I can picture groupings of Hawaiian Ti plants. I would pick rocks instead of mulch due to the pool. Have fun with that pretty space. Does ginger grow in 9A? That would be pretty too.

I now see the basketball hoop. If there are kids running around, I would use pebbles instead of wood chips. The wood chips get everywhere if you run thru them and I can walk barefoot on my pebbles. I would leave them an intentional cut thru, maybe with pretty stepping stones.
