If you have the budget to do built in shelving with the tv that would be a great use of the wall. If not, get a much larger, longer console table to use for storage and to better balance the tv. I would pull your furniture away from the far wall so there is a walkway behind the sofa, or place a sofa table behind it. If you want to have a gallery wall, add some larger pieces of art.

Push the big sofa down to make a tight L with the love seat and relocate bean bag chair. Then, pull in and angle the grey recliner.

Or, center the big sofa, lose the love seat, and put the recliner and bean bag chair where the love seat was.

I'd imagine the height of the ceiling to be the same as that of your kitchen ceiling. Focus your decor on hanging it at eye level, including your TV, which looks like it is too high.

Get a larger rug for this room. I'd think about tan and black or tan and grey. Then get tan colored pillows for the sofas. It will bring a bit of brightness and life to the furniture without having to purchase new. Pull your sofas away from the wall about 8" so they have a slight bit of room to breathe.

Swap your arrangement of high family photos for a lower placed galley wall arrangement if you wish, or replace them all together with artwork above the sofa.

Lastly, this room looks like it has no personality. I can't tell what you find pleasing or what you gravitate to. Let the pillows and rug be something that you really like, not just something that you think is ok in a living room.

I sure hope you do not have issues with the HVAC after closing in thta wall. As for the rest no matter how high the ceiling you live only in the human scaled spac so unless you have ahuge original piece of art that needs that6 huge wall concentrate on the wall being at max 10' tall . Any art is huge center at eye level usually . I would suggest you look at Besta from Ikea for the TV wall it can look custom and provisde storage , TV and some display and fill thta whole wall.A to scale floor plan is also a must posted here on graph paper in jpeg format in a comment DO NOT start another post.

Allison, a lot of people solve the puzzle of a room with mood boards, I've always had better luck picking out one thing that I love and building the room around it. If you were a friend that I was helping, I would suggest (as others have) a new rug with color and pattern. Then you can use the rug as a base for your other choices.

I like the easy chair but I think in front of the window would be better. It could swivel.

Here is a floor plan. This is a concept...I did not measure anything. Even on a tall wall, art should be no higher than eye level.

For the TV wall, wood paneling up to the other ceiling height would work. You don't need much decor on a panelled wall. A couple of floating shelves. Maybe a ladder bookshelf. A painting.

I’ve always like the vertical wood panels( not shiplap) but I’m nervous to try. I want something that will keep up with the times if that makes sense. I also like the idea of painting one wall dark as well.

I think 2-3 pieces of large artwork (rather than the small piece grouping). Would choose those & let the art drive other choices/ color/ changes.

You have a beautiful room and the height should definetly be taken advantage of. I would suggest adding a large stone wall with a electric fireplace to give that big room a beautiful focal point. Mount the TV on the fireplace and put shelves beside it. On the slanted part of the ceiling really make it stand out with wood beams in a shade similar to that of your floors. For the furniture play with the blacks and whites that you have in your kitchen. I made a 3D rendering attached below

You could do simple decor with an open shelf unit and a wall display of woven basket trays.

You need art over the sofa....should be at eye level even with tall walls.

Good morning! I'm still looking at the seating and the bean bag chair. Here are some questions that may help:

1. Is there enough seating?
2. Is there seating not being used?
3. Do people want to prop up their feet or lie down? Do people pile up together or do they sit more apart?
4. Do you eat meals there or at the table? (I'm thinking tray tables.)
5. Do people sit on the floor?
6. Is this a TV room or is there also gaming, reading, board games . . . ?

I have seen rooms where there was a sectional or couch/love seat like you have, but then swivel chairs, bean bag chairs, or floor seating floating in front of the TV for watching or gaming.

As far as style, don't be afraid to lean into comfy, casual, and modern, even a little boho or natural.
