I don’t love casements either, and I don’t have the single hung, but I do have Marvin sliding windows in the basement, and Marvin French doors in the family room. They are beautiful, excellent quality.

I like Marvin too and I would go to the sales center and look at asmaple and try it out.

Thank you for your comment! I have gone to a showroom but they display them alone and not over a counter. You can stand back and pretend the counter is there but it’s hard to get the real feel of it being two feet away while opening and closing.

Any double or single hung (Marvin included) will be a bit of a bear to operate when over a sink. It is just not conducive to leaning across and having the proper leverage to move the sash.

I have Marvin awning windows over my sink (like casements, but open from the bottom instead of the side). I love them. Really easy to operate - I got push-out hardware, so you literally just unlatch/lock and push out to open and pull in to close. No leverage or cranking required. Bonus: you can open them in light rain because the design naturally shields the interior surface, and I think they let fewer bugs in (I don't use a screen) than a casement or hung window.

Thank you both for your comment! This has been the most stressful decision in the process so far! I realize casements are easier to use but thought I might be able to get away with single hungs because of the sash lock on the bottom rail. I’ve scoured the internet and there isn’t much information out there on these particular single hung windows and that also makes it hard.

HU-918119203 - how far out does the window go? When it's open, how far do you have lean to get to the handle to close it? I like the idea, especially the hidden screen, but I wonder if it would be too far to push it all the way open or close it when over a sink.

I haven't had an issue, but I have relatively long arms and don't tend to open them all the way. That said, I'm pretty sure you can get them with a crank which solves the reach issue. I just preferred the push-out setup and hardware.
