Building a Home Windows Design Dilemma

Jamb extensions or not??

We are building a home and have decided to go with Marvin essentials casements black/black. We were asked by the rep if we wanted the 4 9/16 jamb extensions because the essentials come 2.25. We don't know what the answer is. We will be painting the trim white not staining.

Should we get the 4 9/16" jamb extensions? And if so do we just order the ebony window with the white jamb extensions so not to have to paint over them to match trim?

Has anyone else been faced with this decision or similar?

You need jamb extensions one way pr another. You either get them factory applied or you pay the trim carpenter to install them.

Would it be best to have the trim carpenter install them the size needed vs one that came from the manufacturer? What if it wasn't the right size?

Sure trim carpenters install them all the time. Why wouldn't they be the right size? They can be ripped down (removed first of course) but there should be no reason for them to be incorrect of the walls are standard depths.

The rep should be asking the builder, not you. The builder should know the wall thickness and any variances.
