More June Seedlings

last year
last modified: last year

Luckily, today did not reach the predicted 93 degrees. The afternoon was cloudy with some faint sprinkles, so the temp only rose to 89.

I've had several pretty red seedlings blooming recently.

Clickbait X Seedling first bloomed yesterday.- I like the bright red color on this one, along with the white edge and watermark.

Blazing Cannons X Armed to the Teeth - The edge is more gold than it appears in this photo.

Crowning Fire X Woman in Red

Diver Down X Seedling

This is my big 8-inch red likely out of Red Venom and Dancing Flamingo.

The next two are from the cross of Freedom of Expression and Violet Sabrewing.

Freedom of Exp. X VS 4 - This is the first flower ever. The other three sibs first bloomed last year. I love the sepals on this one!

Freedom of Exp. X VS 2

Dancing Flamingo X Neon Flamingo #2

English Lavender X Seedling

Skin of My Teeth X Midnight Castle #1 - This one was hit hard by grubs two years ago and is finally recovering.

White Tooth X God Save the Queen end of the day

Grandma's Smile X Dearest Valentine

Another beautiful group of seedlings. My favorite of the bunch is the Clickbait seedling. I love the white watermark with white edge on the bright red flower and very green throat. I hope that one makes the trip to Indy. My second favorite is the Diver Down seedling. White Tooth X God Save the Queen is impressive at the end of a hot day.

Nan - The Clickbait seedling has a short scape and very few buds, but I like its face better than any of the other Clickbait seedlings with more substantial plant habit.. So I will try to take it to Indy. It is so small, it may not survive the trip. I've got a good clump of five fans on the Diver Down seedling, so it may fare better. If I get really ruthless, those two won't go. I have three red seedlings with the face and the legs that are higher on my take list than these two. The White Tooth seedling is one I am taking. It has more blue tones in its coloring than any of the other WT kids, multiplies fast, holds its color on hot days, and is semi-evergreen.

I agree that the Clickbait and Diver Down seedlings are quite phogenic-wish they were stronger candidates for you. Of course I like the 8 inch part of the Red Venom seedling. The first Freedom of Expression seedling sepals look like they are giving the OK sign! Grandma’s Smile seedling clump is so pretty. Nice batch today!!

Kate - Between grubs and drought, it's really hard to know which seedlings may have great potential. The Clickbait seedling on this post and the Diver Down seedling certainly have the best watermarks of all the reds this season.

Clickbait seedling is my favorite, but some really nice real reds, you did great with these! I have lots of dark reds and scarlets, but not too much what I consider true reds.

Nancy - I love the reds with watermarks and white edges. Now if just one of them would develop good plant habits!

The reds catch my eye, apart from the last Grandma's Smile seedling, which I assume you are taking.
