Ensure they ship in the fall when summer temperatures have receded . MG has been available locally in my area recently so call local pkant nurseries to see if maybe MG is in stock where you live.

@chrysalids I am curious as to what distinguishes MG from other big leaf macrophylla hydrangeas?

@ gardengal48 (PNW Z8/9), I didn't know about Hydrangeas Plus. Thank you for the recommendation.

@ luis_pr, unfortunately I have had no luck with my local nurseries so far. I have started contacting nurseries further away. If I don't have any luck, I will wait for fall to make an online order as you suggested. Thanks.

@ rouge21_gw (CDN Z5b/6a), your question is the exact reason that I want to get at least one MG. It is supposed to have more vivid color blooms than most other macs, and is capable of multi-color blooms. Also, I have read speculation that La Dreamin' (which I love the most of all macrophyllas and have several) is the same or very close to MG. I want to get MG so I can do my own comparison.

Can't be the same plant. MG is an older cultivar and blooms only on old wood. La Dreamin' is remontant or blooms on both old and new wood.

@ gardengal48 (PNW Z8/9), exactly. MG and La Dreamin' can't be the same variety. MG does have vivid blooms with the large sepals like La Dreamin' so I would love to add it to my container garden and see how it does under the similar conditions.
