Please help me replace the worst sink ever made
We moved last year into a home that has what I believe (from experience and research) to be the worst kitchen sink ever manufactured.
It is the American Standard Americast Silhouette, model 7145.804
It has chipped, stained, peeled, and rusted. It looks like it is 50 years old despite being less than 15 years old. When I called AS about their "limited lifetime warranty," OF COURSE they told me it does not transfer to another owner of the house. They told me about a website where I can buy a "repair kit," but this train wreck is waaay beyond that. There are numerous chipped and rusted spots and one entire bowl is completely peeled and stained urine yellow. (I'm too embarrassed to show an actual picture of it in my kitchen, but the above is what it looks like new.)
This is an undermount sink, and because my granite countertops have been cut to fit this monstrosity to accommodate the pan handle "bump," I had originally planned to replace it with the same sink, but guess what? They don't make it any more. (Wonder why?!)
Then I thought to maybe have it reglazed, but when I searched for info on the sink, several people said it was pretty much a total waste of time to do that.
I did find a couple of them in "new old stock," but as much as I hate this thing, I would really prefer to just replace it and the faucet.
At the home we just left, I had Blanco Silgranit sinks in my kitchen and bar, and I just loved them. 15 years of owning my home and they still looked new. I got on the Blanco website and found one very similar to one I had, and what I would like to ask on here is if this sink will work.
The issue is that the size of The Sink From Hell is a relatively standard 33x22, but the custom cutout on my counter poses a problem. Can I solve this by getting a 33x22 that is drop-in/top mount instead of undermount? Would the "lip" of the top mount sink cover that curve cut out of my granite?
This is the sink I want to replace the AS one with: Blanco Silgranit DIAMOND Equal Double Dual Mount
Is this doable?

The Blanco will undermount; it's going to look like this ^.
If you pay to have the cutout changed, profiled, and polished, it's going to look like this ^. Either way, strap your sink in place with a Hercules Universal Sink Harness or a Sink Strap or two please. No clips or blocking please.oakrunfarm thanked Joseph Corlett, LLCRelated Professionals
