house exterior ideas

Hello. I need some ideas for the exterior of my house. I was thinking of just painting the stucco white and then putting some sort of stone where the old wood siding is. Does anyone have pictures or could give me an idea of what this would look like with a visual? Or any other ideas? We plan on getting new windows as well, which will be white. Thanks!

I would also like to build a small porch on the front of the house that is a similar colour as the wood fence on the right side

Use your favorite paint company's visualizer for a fast redo. The photo you upload to their website works best without overhanging tree branches. trash cans, or other unpaintable things.

I think this house would look nice with all siding.

No to two different materials. The house is very horizontal. Cutting the façade in half visually only makes it less vertical and more choppy. All siding, as per @palimpsest, is a better idea.

@palimpsest is right. One color. I love the dark color posted - it gives this small, simple house a touch of drama.

And a wood porch would look great with a dark background.

Thanks! Could I just paint it all right now? We hadn’t planned on doing siding quite yet, we want to do windows first. Would painting the wood siding and stucco the the same colour look okay?

Yes, for now you could paint all one color. Replace your current storm door with an all glass version, remove all items that are stored along the foundation, and if the budget allows get professional landscaping/hardscaping. It will look fabulous!

I like the all blue but I don’t mind the colors of your home as it is. It does need to be painted and cleaned up though. Here’s some pics of homes of similar style and how you could add a porch. Landscaping will make a huge difference for this home.

Yes to all one color and a hard No to paste-on stone.

I like your house and Emily posted some awesome possibilities for you.

I only used blue because that was the primary color of the siding. A number or colors could work.

I think that yes, if you painted all three sidings the same color for right now it would unify the house. The siding in the gable does not appear to be the same siding or have the same reveal as that on the lower part of the house.

Thanks everyone. Love the ideas, I find it hard to visualize what will look good so appreciate the pictures.

I like the two-tone look, but would do colors much closer to each other. Like SW alabaster and Rowhouse Tan.

    You need landscaping.

One color will give your house a visual “lift”. The two-tone look cuts it in half. Deep navy or a rich grey would be stunning with white trim. Is there an opportunity to put in a larger window or two?

The windows will be replaced but I don’t think we plan on making them bigger. The big window will be changed to a 3 Payne window tho

keep the windows in the same style, more modern, and do black

Here's a quick photoshop. if doing the roof, choose a charcoal or black for it too

The main issue is your landscaping. bringing in a new path some flower beds, green grass, some trees, would be 75% of the overall curb appeal.

you really need a new door too.

gave you diff numbers, and a light, and modern pot w/plant

You could try doing a dark trim along the fascia. I also gave you some composite wood siding in the gable portion. it would really take it up a notch if you did this.

some diff door options. something more modern with glass is what you need on this house.

another example of black windows. this is the style you want for that house. no grids.

other landscape ideas, follow any of these (redoing that center walkway will be key, along w/the steps and the porch/door)

    some color options

    alternative,,,,, paint the stucco black,

do the siding in white. (or remove it and do a white stone or brick) like this look

if you like the blue, here are some colors. looks great w/the mcm door in lime, and some composite wood. you could do the gable in the wood, or do that entire area around the larger window in the wood

lol this picture was taken in the dead of winter when we had no snow my grass really isn’t this dead all the time ** but totally the walkway needs to be redone and more plants to spruce it up!

Paint the foundation too, and get some foundation plantings started.

I would not do black or dark windows. You don't need to add another color to your house, which has two colors of siding and a stucco.

I won’t be doing black windows, more money too. They will be white

We have a similar house, painted it hale navy and built a front deck and modified the walkway. this photo is before we put landscaping in.

And here's the house all in a warm white with black windows and trim, and wood accents:

and here in all white but showing stone to replace the siding at the bottom:

Oh I like those white images too! Thank you so much. I have some decisions to make. Can you change out the windows on the first one with white windows instead? I don’t think black are in our budget.

you might be able to do a trim around the window and paint that black. it's easy enough to do and will save money.

I like this one. the wood post, wood door, and the wood truss in the gable really add a lot. landscaping is nice too. Nice job lisedv

see how they did it on the two windows on the right? the black trim? looks good

This one too. you don't have to do a thick trim. 1-2" should be fine

the darker windows look better w/the white.

now, if you want to do a dark stucco/siding, you can do white windows.

I love this one especially w/the wood door as accents

Or, if you like the blues/gray tones:
