Can't decide on the size until you measure the space.

To measure for chandelier size measure the length and width of the space. In other words, used the ceiling for the pattern. Add the width size and length size and convert to inches. (6' x 6' = 30'). So, a 30" chandelier is the perfect size. I think the electrical box may be in the wrong spot. Do you think it should be in the middle of the ceiling?

By modern, assuming you mean Arts and Craft style (because of the design of the wood doors, the (faux) leaded glass.). Consider Moroccan because the prisms will reflect on the ceiling giving the effect of "grounding".

A suggestion: either paint the white doors a color or replace with wood ones. Keep your rugs in a similar feel.

You could paint the ceiling a nice color. That would draw down the height visually. With pink paper, try a mid-to-dark blueish gray, or go dramatic with Oxblood red.
