Need help with backsplash design

I am at a loss as to what to do with my backsplash design.

We would like to use a marble brick tile on the cooktop wall with our soapstone countertops, but don’t know what to do with our other two walls. We considered carrying the tile around, only about two-three tiles high, but I am concerned that will look strange. The difficulty (in my mind) seems to lie with the overall design - the fact that the Kitchen and Dining room share a wall with no break, and that there are no wall cabinets on the sink side.

The options right now seem to be

- Tile on the cooktop wall and just a few rows going on around to the DR half wall (would that look strange?)

- Tile on the cooktop wall and then start a 4 inch soapstone backsplash that goes around the other two walls

- Soapstone all the way around, but then how do you protect the rest of the cooktop wall? Put glass on it? A big high dark piece of soapstone (I don’t find my self drawn to that look but maybe should revisit it...)?

- Tile all the way around, with the sink wall being tiled up to base of what would be wall cabinet height and then ending somehow at half wall? Maybe some sort of trim coming up off the half wall to ceiling, going across ceiling and then down other end of half wall???

- Go ahead and put wall cabinets up on sink side and tile to them??

Would appreciate hearing what alternatives might work best. Maybe there is some outside the box option out there…

I am including some images. Note that the wall cabinet and shelf on the sink wall is NOT in the plans right now.
