Thought I’d show some leaves

Those of you who have seen some of my posts where I am complaining of earwig and cut worm damage. So now many of my hostas aren’t looking great. So I decided to share just some leaf pictures. Feel free to share some of yours.

I don’t have much in the way of pristine leaves, but here are a couple:

Summer Fragrance, which has also begun to open blooms - so nice to be near it!

    September Sun

Gg, love the color on September Sun.

Several of my leaves are getting the summer/late season uglies but I did find a few still nice. So is it "size matters" or no?

I like seeing the individual leaves here. I have never taken photos of leaves…….something to think about doing.

In a drought here. Leaves are not looking good. Of course, when the ground is like cement and the deer are everywhere it's difficult to have nice looking leaves. Yours are very beautiful. Really like September Sun. Where are you located? How much rain have you had recently?

I am in east central Indiana, Miles. Knock on wood I have won the rain lottery this year. About two weeks ago I got out the sprinkler and ran it for a day, but then rains came back. Things look rough but I think its more from the extreme heat (which the bugs seem to love.) We got 2” the other day, and about 1/4” since.

What a great idea Debra and such gorgeous leaf pics! You started off with a bang, Sting and every one that followed is fabulous.

igg September Sun is such a standout & Summer Fragrance was definitely ready for a close up!

old_dirt we are so lucky that FW is pristine. I think it is about placement. I have mine so that the sun does not hit it until the leaves have had a chance to dry from overnight rain. You? Perfect pics!

I keep missing the what are you up to threads. By the time I get to it the week is already over!

Beautiful leaves! I have Fingerprint but my leaves don't look anything like yours! I always wanted a Powder Keg, it's rerrific!

Laurie, your pics are amazing! All are beautiful, but I bought Riviera Sunset after I saw your photos. I love the 5 colors on the leaf. Of course mine looks nothing like yours at not even a year old.

miles10612 thank you! How old is your Fingerprint? Mine is maybe 4-5 years in the ground and it took a while to start really showing its stuff. Yes PK is terrific and perhaps if I watered my garden I would not have to pull out reverted eyes. This year we are super hot but have actually had good rain. In the 3 previous years it was sweltering hot and drought conditions so I feel for you. I also have herds of deer grr. I have to spray with Bobbex every 2 wks.

Thank you Debra! Riviera Sunset is special and I am so happy you got it! It will be fun seeing the progression for both of ours over time.

I got my Fingerprint, or what was marked as Fingerprint 4-5 years ago when they were selling out everything at Wade & Gatton. It was a mature plant, but mine has darker green leaves with just a hint of the lighter color in it. It's deeper than the fourth picture on the HL website. I will try and remember to take a picture of it when I get home tonight. Mine gets a couple of hours of sun 12-3. The HL website says it's a sport of Paul's Glory which grows fast so mine has grown a lot since I got it.
