It's impossible to judge precise colour from a computer screen so I suggest you get a few light taupe samples to look at in your home.

The general rule is that you don’t put a new counter on old cabinets. There are several good reasons for this, not least of which is that your lower cabinets are partial overlay with significant gaps, they are older cabinets, and no matter what color you paint them, theyre going to look like older stick-built cabinets from the 60s and 70s. Your cabinets do not have storage drawers, and the top drawers you do have appear to be failing - do they glide without difficulty or do you struggle to close them? Painting those cabinets will improve their appearance (not their function). Quartz counters are expensive, and it will be much more difficult to replace those cabinets once the counter is installed. Consider re-laminating your laminate counters instead - maybe invest in quartz when you can put it on more functional cabinets.

Also, paint is the wrong coating for cabinets. Consider a urethane enamel.

As for color, are you designing around those floors because you love them? In this image they are red, not amber - does the image look accurate to you? Before you choose paints, look for inspiration images of kitchens with red floors and painted cabinets.

Your kitchen won’t look like these when it is done, but that’s not the point. The point is to have direction so you can make a plan to move forward. Good luck.

keep the existing counter. pick a green for the cabinets. But it would be better to wait and save for a full remodel given the issues pointed out about the cabinet age etc.
