Impact windows installation sticking out past trim, Acceptable?

I had impact windows installed on my 80 year old home. Some of the windows stick out past the trim and some don't. I was not aware this was going to happen. I've been told to just paint it and I won't notice. I believe the interior trim needed to be taken off but wasn't except for my front windows. Is this acceptable? Can anything be done at this point?

    Incredibly sloppy, lazy, hack. They should be embarrassed. You were sold the wrong product for your situation imo. Nailing cheap pine over the nailing fins and caulking it with tons of white silicone is not a proper finishing method.
