I drove by this country diner today and had to stop to snap a photo or two:

OMG!!! I couldn't eat there.....I wouldn't be able to keep anything down. Feel queasy just looking at it.

    Pink like Peto Bismol? ;)

Yeah! Almost like advertising that you will need it. Not a good thing for a restaurant........

I couldn't eat there because - once again - I'd be wondering why THEIR petunias are so spectacular and MINE are DEAD hahaha!

Pink or not, they're certainly very happy-looking petunias.

    Definitely @floral_uk z.8/9 SW UK.

(I wonder if this planting is a 'tradition')

Dee, I am worried about you. Are you losing sleep over petunias? ;)

O m g! When you said overload you weren't exaggerating!

@erasmus_gw, I nominate your post for "Post of the Year" ;)

    Bravo, erasmus!

LOL rouge, no I am not losing sleep over petunias! I am too far resigned to petunia failure to lose sleep lol. I just think it's hysterical and maddening (at the same time) that I am always being proven right about the state of (pick your favorite) "gas station/fast-food joint/ supermarket/post office/drugstore/tattoo parlor/add your favorite here" petunias compared to my feeble attempts to grow them. :)

The petunias above are a bit too pink for my taste (at least in that big of a number lol) but they are spectacular!

I think they're glorious. I'm not sure I like the huge amount of whiskey barrel planters but in a parking lot you bloom where you're planted.

The obvious health of the mass planting can only make one smile.

Agree wholeheartedly with both of you! Gorgeous and happy-inducing!

    UPDATE (a month later)

I happened to be driving by again, a little over a month later and the display is looking good,

    Wow, continued spectacularness!

You sure they're not fake? Just wondering.... :D

You wouldn't see such a glorious display of one colour in a 'formal' garden but IMO it is absolutely perfect for a country diner. It is without a doubt a conversation piece for patrons and local residents. And the gardener clearly knows how to keep potted annuals healthy for the whole season. For sure, even though it is 90 minutes away, I will find an excuse to visit in 2025. Well done I say.

I agree! Even if it's just a tad too pink for my personal taste, it IS glorious and very well done!

And not to mention it's wonderful to see a business put so much time and effort into keeping their premises inviting and welcoming.

rouge it might be interesting to find an excuse to visit in late fall or even winter. I wonder if they do anything garden-related during those seasons...

I make the long drive to the area as there are two high quality nurseries within 5 minutes of this diner. Maybe in the Fall there is a Halloween theme and in the winter...Christmas decorations?

How about this @diggerdee zone 6 CT, if you come north of the border into Ontario I promise to drive you there...heck, even buy you lunch there....my treat :).

rouge that is a *wonderful* invitation and I would love some day to be able to take you up on it! :)

I have been trying to make it back to Quebec city for almost 5 years lol. I love Quebec. My husband and I planned a trip there a few years back but the pandemic hit. Then we each had some medical issues that needed attention. And of course now we need a passport to cross the border - I remembe the good old days when one was not needed. Being the world traveler that I am, my passport expired about 25 years ago and I have yet to renew it lol!

Perhaps some day if I ever get north of the border I will let you know - although Ontario is awfully big lol (as I suppose, are most Canadian provinces) and I'm guessing the chances of you being just over the border are not in my favor haha!

    :)
