It's hard to guess at an answer to your questions without a photo of the plant. Also, where are you located (major city nearby is close enough). Was this nursery stock or a florists plant that had been forced into bloom?

From what you briefly describe, my first thought is a watering issue. They prefer an acidic moist but well draining soil. Azaleas often don't thrive in pots in hot humid climates but you haven't had it long enough to experience issues from that.

The rootball could have become dry enough that when you water, its not penetrating and only running out the drainage holes around the rootball. Indoor humidity is rarely good for azaleas, they infrequently thrive as house plants.

It's not a fertilizer problem so don't fertilize again - these are not heavy feeders and you'll accomplish nothing in correcting your problem. Give us a little more information, a photo would be helpful, and we can try to point you in the right direction...
