Semi gloss is the correct choice. Matte should never be done for trim, or in a bath, either one.

I would leave the semi gloss in the powder room. What are the other two rooms, where ceilings were painted semi gloss? If bedrooms, and regular living type rooms, those should be redone with flat, flat is not good for bathrooms.

It’s a beach house bathroom and the wood is supposed to have a rustic organic feel. Semigloss is opposite to that. I get that it’s wipeable, but it’s ugly quite frankly. It has way too much sheen. I want something low lustre. It’s not a formal home.

It’s a powder room also.

Usually, the reason for semi gloss in a bathroom, is for steam and moisture issues. You may not have that problem in a powder room, since most likely no shower or bath in there. In that case, you could probably get by with flat, or at least matte in that room.
