Move timing after re-staining floors

Hello!
We are restaining floors as the last process of a remodel and was given the greenlight by our contractor to move in 48 hours after the process is done.

After doing some research, people have said that it seems to be risky to move furniture into a home that quickly after the restaining process.
We let our movers know that the place will have newly stained floors but of course moving is generally not a delicate process.

What would you recommend is the appropriate time to wait between completion of the restaining and the move?
We also have a pet that will walk the same floors and cannot wear socks. We can limit her off for a few weeks but it is limiting vs eliminating.

Please send your feedback my way! Move within 48 hours, 1 week or longer?

Some things to consider is where you live, heat, humidity. If you live in a hot humid area, run the AC 24/7. Even then, I would wait 3 days.

We refinished our floors when we lived in NY. It was a hot August and they were still tacky 3 days after.

I assume you are getting a poly layer over the stain.

Personally, I would wait 3 days and check them before having the movers come in.

Thank you @jane_ny! That’s a good point. We are in Northern California where it’s low 80s during the day and cools down in the evening. Unfortunately, it is not humid here. I think 3 days is workable for us. I was worried it will have to be 1-2 weeks or more to cure.

The cure time for the finish used on your floor will vary depending on the specific type of finish. Speak to your flooring contractor about the manufacturer's recommendations for cure time before placing furniture and before placing area rugs.

We waited 48 hours and it was 7 years ago and the floors are fine.
