Hi! We just got a Lacanche Cluny gas top with electric ovens. We've been told the ovens emit extremely hot steam out of the little vent at the back, and that it's dangerous not to have a completely inflammable backsplash such as tile, metal or stone. I am seeing lots of pictures of Lacanche ranges online with no backsplash, just what looks like a plaster wall behind, which is what I would prefer. Does anyone have any experience or advice with this? We have avoided tile backsplashes with other ranges in the past but the Lacanche fitter told me that these ranges are different because of the high steam temperatures.
