Please update your floor plan with large readable measurements for windows, doors, and walls. Indicate which is the front door and which is the French door.

Whatt do the teens want in there for a hangout? Wher eis this in the home ? Is this the only place for the kids ? I need info and you need to have a good conversation wih the kids . I my home the kids preferred to be in the basement as they became teens not at the front of the house so more info please .

The teens just need seating for hanging out and watching tv, and an ottoman or coffee table for playing games. I don’t want them in the basement yet. My oldest is teen but the younger ones still need more supervision.

How many people use the room daily and how many guests do you want to accommodate?

I would say 3 to 5 people (kids or adults depending on the event). Usually it would just be my 3 kids, maybe a friend or two.

Make the room super casual - no dedicated furniture (ex: sofa, etc.) I'd get a bunch of bean bags so they can use the room the way it feels right for them. Get a long cabinet under the tv to store games, etc, and remove the shelf from the wall. Add a few small ottomans so they for playing games or resting drinks. Fill the wall space with large posters in frames, or some of their artwork.

Working on a 3D rendition. Are you open to removing the French doors? By that I mean, taking them off of the hinges?

Sure! No issues with that, we leave them open 99% of the time anyway

They take up wall space. Or, can they be reversed to open out in the opposite direction?

Okay so here are some pics of the rendition with some suggestions. Please know that the colors and styles are not being suggested, only the furniture placement and types.

Here you see:

1. 3 swivel chairs. Please note that the swivel chairs are a great option because they can be turned to watch TV or play at the game table between them. These chairs are small ones that you can get from World Market Cost Plus.
2. 4 floor cushions/ottomans for playing games around the coffee table, or just extra seating for the teens and their friends.
3. 2 floor lamps with directional lighting.
4. One 3 seater couch
5. One table lamp on the side table next to the couch
6. One large, square coffee table.
7. One small table between the two swivel chairs in front of the window, for board games (chess or checkers)
8. One large screen TV
9. One large TV unit with side shelves and media storage with baskets added for more storage.
10. One record player and a couple of other games and video games
11. One coat rack on the wall to the right of the window.
