Removing fireplace mantle- need a second opinion!

I have two mantles around my fireplace: one surrounding it and another on top. After talking with experts, I planned to remove the top mantle to create a clean surface for mounting a TV. I’d like a second opinion on whether I should also remove the top part of the bottom mantle. How would that look? I'm aiming for a minimalist design, but I'm not sure if a mantle is necessary with this fireplace style."
