What are you doing Monday or Tuesday 82724

I need yard shoes. I would take my 'go to work and back' shoes and use them in the yard after about a year. Then I would pick out a new pair so I would not look like a bum. I retired almost two years ago and now I am finding a flaw in what was once a perfect plan.

The weather has been cooler and very delightful. I see that some people are in an oven and I hope you stay cool. I find that I am getting a few things done but they are not the fun things I like to do ones. I know the heat will be back ............

Who has come back are many of my birds. They were up north visiting friends. I have been outside working and wishing I had new yard shoes. Nothing much is happening here. I was enjoying rain every day, but it has stopped. Now I do have to water again. Labor Day! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaatt?

Here is a group of hostas seen on a better day

So what are you doing?

Doing nothing outside today. 97 today with feel like temp 102. Wish we had some rain here, dry for a week. It is so humid that when the heat does break the weather will most likely be really nasty. Got some garden work to do……gotta wait until it gets cooler. I am getting weary of the unpredictable weather the past 2 years.

Sea Dream still looking good last week.

Linda, I love seeing all those babies! Do you know the crosses or are you just waiting for something amazing?

Thank you! Today is much better day weather wise. I have both, some are crosses I know and some came from my previous seedlings which lost their labels during our move, unfortunately. I am still struggling with trying to figure out labels for them, there are too many "seedlings of a seedling" that are keepers.

In this year I have only few seeds I was concentrating on, including couple of streaked seeds from Mike Vasey who retired last year from breeding and sold all his stashes. I have seen some seedlings people got from his seeds, it is something else! Am sure we will get big breakthrough soon on some colorful hostas.

It does take few years to understand new plant, am figuring.

Paula I can so relate to the yard shoes! I have 2 pairs on the go right now because my fav pair have no tread left, They are so comfy but after it rains I have to switch to the other pair because I would be slipping out on the slopes and rocks. What a gorgeous and eclectic grouping in your pic!

Sherry SD is looking fabulous! It has been brutally hot here all summer but yesterday & today are in the high 60's before it warms up again. I have been digging for weeks redoing beds but yesterday it was lovely to be in full sun really tearing at it without breaking a sweat!

So many beautiful seedlings lindalana! I am always so impressed with the time & dedication it takes to breed.

Ann we are the most critical of our own gardens and I am sure your wonderland is still fabulous despite the heat & slugs. This year has been tough weather wise but I keep telling myself I really, really hate the cold more!

Laurie..you’re right..imperfect green leaves and warm (even hot) temperatures are better than bare or brown plants with cold temperatures..

let’s enjoy what’s left of summer!..

Yes Ann I am positive when I am under 2ft. of snow with frigid temps I will look back fondly on the heat even though I am wilting now lol!

Yes, we all are complaining about our gardens and the weather……☺️ I think every August is like this. Hostas are in decline, bug damage has taken its toll, lack of rain and lack of energy! Well that’s the garden cycle it seems, for hostas anyway.

My Liberty looked so burned in the sun bed that I had Bert move it for me out front where it will get sun and shade. I may have to move others or protect them with nearby taller plants. It seems my sun bed is a lot of sun. The only hostas that aren’t fried are El Niño, High Society, Nigrescens, Sting and Snow Mouse. Hanky Panky doesn’t look too bad. Gabriel’s Wing needs a new location because the small butterfly bush is just covering it up. Lots of work, and no motivation.

Still living without a main bathroom vanity, cabinet and sink……long story but the guy making the vanity for us has suffered three deaths in his close family in rather quick succession and we have no idea what’s going on at this point. Still waiting to post when everything is done.✔️
