For sure correct me if I am wrong but it seems from the little I have viewed of heliotrope that there are times in the season that it has fewer flowers? The colour of them reminds me of ageratum which I have used extensively. Are heliotrope water conserving like ageratum?

No, they're not like ageratum in either plant form or color. The color of "Fragrant Delight" and the "Marines" is a much richer, deeper color than the ageratum; it's definitely purple. Plant form of heliotrope is on the bushy side, and the foliage is beefy. Completely different plants.

I have to take cuttings for a mother plant pretty soon, will probably take from one of these planted in the ground. They were grown from cuttings from a mother plant over the winter, super easy to grow. I never had success with growing heliotrope from seed, though.
