We use Tamco Titan XT for our shingles. That is a quality shingle. We recently built a house with the rustic black Titan XT. I would say that it is slightly lighter than the 1st picture but pretty on par with the last picture (showing the house). There are slight variations, enough to give definition to the tabs but not drastic. I think that this is the most solid black shingle that they make. If you want more variation in shades and slightly lighter i would go with the Antique Slate.
