Ceiling fan inside tray ceiling question

For maximum airflow / breeze, should the ceiling fan extend out from underneath the tray, or can we get a low profile ceiling fan that stays tucks inside the tray (our preference), but can still circulate good amount of air in the room? Pictures of rooms attached where we want to install these fans for reference.
