I'm here. I have been checking in every day. Bob and I have been super busy trying to move daylilies around the garden. We have seedlings to cull and daylilies to line out. Of course, the tractor had to take this opportunity to break down. It's been dry here and there are only a handful of flowers open. Even Autumn Minaret has stopped blooming.

Here are 5 of my favorite bitones (or bicolors).

Impassioned is one of my favorites. It blooms mid-late and has tall scapes.

Sonoran Desert Rose is a great grower and is turning out to be a great parent for us.

This one, Susan Ruoff X Carrots Forever, will be a 2025 introduction named Gandalf's Fireworks.

Nancy, glad you posted! My favorites are Impassioned and your 2025 introduction, Gandalf’s Fireworks……lovely bitone! I am always surprised by the names you choose for your introductions. What is the secret to your name picks?

Sherry, many of our names are inspired by favorite movies. Gandalf's Fireworks comes from the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Some are inspired by activities of our kids when they were young. Professor Ninglecut and Madame Cheeseball were characters in a 'play' our children wrote when they were little. We keep a list of potential names. So far, it hasn't been hard to come up with a good name. The problem is when you register a daylily, you have to submit an alternate name. That can be tricky especially if you have had a name picked out and have used that as a garden name.

I never remember which ones are bitone, always have to look thru the pics. I don't mind bi-tones, but they are often not my favorites. These 5 are in my top favorites.

Like Brad, I had a hard time remembering who is bitone, and I do really like bitones and bicolors :)

My picks from these are Olalie Keith, Tramps Like Us, and Egyptian Ibis.

I have Sea Dragon too, glad yours still number one. Mine was good the first few years, but now.. I don't know what happened. And I also have a couple nice bitone seedlings but will post registered.

Nat, I like Forsyth Frostbound, I like the simplicity of the bloom. My Sea Dragon is not in full sun. It get morning and late day sun and it has done well every season here, maybe 10??

Sherry, check it out, I found an old picture of Sea Dragon when it was new and great.

Everything is worse now - bud count, opening, colors.

I was contemplating making a thread of how some of my daylilies deteriorate but not sure I'd be capable of so much picture search right now..
