It seems this is an open concept kitchen that is connected to the main living area correct? If so, this space is visually the same room and it seems best to me to run the vinyl flooring into the kitchen. Can you say more about why you choose to have two floorings? Or if there is something specific about vinyl that you don't like in a kitchen?

It’s a condo. We need to move an electrical panel from where it is now. We will need to drill a hole through the cement floor to run the wiring to the new location of the panel. It can be done but we would need to apply for new permits and it’s going to delay the project. The original plan was to lay vinyl plank throughout. Thanks.

I think it would be better to delay the project and do one flooring throughout the space.

But that's because I don't know (and I'm not asking you to disclose it unless you want to) why a delay for new permits is unacceptable.

I’m confused as to what the electrical issue has to do with flooring change? at any rate for open concept keep one flooring throughout. definitely don’t change at island - that will look quite weird. you could transition at edge of last kitchen cabinet.
