Small kitchen layout help

last year

TIA for feedback! Trying to determine besf layout for our kitchen. Plan shows existing layout (but not quite drawn accurately). Sink is 24 under window with dishwasher to the left of it as you're facing teh sink/window. In new layout, prefer to have 30" sink cabinet and hood (not microhood). Looking at using ikea frames with custom doors. New layout is ikea with dishwasher next to range. Not sure if this is a good idea. Any other thoughts or feedback on layout would be greatly appreciated!

    Add the layout.

I'd usually not put a dw next to a range. Both the cooking and cleanup work zones need space. 24" sinkbase is actually more than adequate with a 21" wide x 18" deep undermount sink. Makeup a cardboard mockup and test your pots. etc. Plenty big. A small kitchen need the counter you save. And the cabinets for drawers you save. All wide drawer lowers. IKEA only goes to 36" wide for base drawer cabs.

Why cram the sink and range onto the same wall? You have a nice U shape kitchen, use it!

Try with the sink in the middle of the U. You might end up losing one or both of the corner storages but not the end of the world.

Looking at your layout, I think you can add counter for wider more functional work zones by swapping the frig and the range. Use a counter depth frig. Move the range to the right at its new location and add counter under the window. A more involve option would be to remove that window or move it closer to the outside corner on that wall. This could give you room to move the stove to the left on that run for better counter work zones. Also include a vent hood for your range. 36" for a 30" range. Preferably induction slide-in like Frigidaire or Bosch. You'll need a good task lighting plan with a minimum of 450 lumens at the counter for your work zones. 4" led cans 6" in from the counter edge will avoid shadowing. Two offset per area.

IMO go all Ikea both doors and boxes they make some of the best storage ideas for a really good price. As for the actual layout there is no way a pantry should be outside the kitchen work space IMHO. Post a real to scale floor plan all measurements clearly marked , what does it mean move wall registers ? Name the entry place into the home and can the door to outside possibly be moved so you access through the FR that would open up a whole new way to look at this space . Use graph paper to make a scaled drawing easier . show every window , doorway where those lead every meausrement claerly marked and post here in jpeg format in a comment DO NOT START another post . Do you have living room or only a family room? How many people live there ? Info about your cooking style is important haveing a sink under a window is not a big deal IMO if it keeps a space form better function. I will wait for the actual floor plan to have better ideas of design

You are not building a new home you are remodeling an existing house. Quit looking at ikea and start looking for a local residential architect that is able to gather all the pertinent information to help you redesign your house to fit your needs. They may think of things you have not thought of.
