How do you post to Houzz?

I have a terrible time posting to this site. I cannot use my phone as it erases as soon as I type anything. Due to my phone hack I will no longer sign up for any apps and I'm not signed up for google since that is how my phone was destroyed. Does everyone hearherehear herehere me Just type copy. I tried to use voice recognition on my kindle but it Anticipated Incorrectly what I want to say And then changes what I said. It's very frustrating for me commenting And making posts. I post from a kindle fire. I suppose I could go back and see how you using A laptop works. Do people have better luck with apple product or Other platform?

I also cannot edit it as it just repeats endlessly what I just typed. As you can see above.

Diane, I guess I did not write that clearly. I have not been able to use my phone for years because it erases what I typed so I'm not using a phone I'm using what you were calling a notebook Thank you for letting me know what you use and what is working for you.

Thank you for that. It's good to know what people are using. I have an old laptop lying around but I know I used to have problems with it when I used it After who's changed a few years ago. I don't have a desktop. I recently acquired An apple laptop So I was wondering how people did with that.

I currently use a MacBook Air laptop with no problems. I used to use my desktop Mac computer, also no problems. With both, I have this site bookmarked, so that as soon as I click on it, it opens with no need to log on. I read it as a website, so all of the threads appear in chronological order, with the comments also in order. Because I use a Mac, Safari is my browser, and it's great. I sure hope you can resolve your issues :-D

Sheila! Sorry, but I'm laughing. And Susan, I, too, have a back door to the forum, and I haven't signed in since I arrived here from Garden Web. Actually, the back door "home" is Garden Web, not Houzz, but now Houzz is Garden Web. Is anyone confused? Diane

Yes, I am also on the garden web and never sign in. They did some update recently And I got kicked off on my phone so I can't Like posts over there. I can't post so it doesn't really matter. It's looking like laptops and desktops Don't have problems. I can see other people have the same problems I do though So I know I'm not the only 1. I can tell by how they type things et ceteraPeriodic. I just wonder if some people type In a file copy it and then paste it on to the garden web. I can do that but it takes forever and I don't like doing it.

If I have time I will try using my Old HP laptop and see what happens there.

I think Carol does the copy and paste thing, but she uses a desktop. And Kitty saves photos or something, not sure, and posts them. Good luck with the laptop. Diane

As a recent joiner, I was Houzz from the outset, although it now comes up as ’gardenweb’. That hasn’t changed my interactions with the forum at all, which were are are still trouble-free. I use an iPad and have the forum as a permanent tab via my yahoo homepage, so I just click and go. I type and add photos directly.

The only issue I have is when autocorrect tries to butt in and change a misspelling, then the original typo appears before the corrected word or repeats itself to make a nonsense of my sentence. Vapor, try turning off spellcheck/autocorrect on your notebook and see if that banishes the word salad gremlin?

I just lurk for the most part, but I recently found selecting auto complete-words allowed words to be entered and not deleted. Whoever programmed this must assume everyone selects a word instead of typing them out? IDK 🙄

Maybe it's how younger generations use their phone. 🤔

I use an Apple MacBook Pro laptop, and had no problems until recently when they "updated" things on Houzz. Then every single time I tried to sign in I had to put in my ID and password. I queried "Houzz Support" (see bottom of any page - they are VERY responsive), and they said "...As long as you don't click to sign out of either Houzz or Gardenweb, once logged in, you should continue to be logged in for as a long as a year. I am on here for the first time since I got that advice - will see if it works.

i THINK Julie and nollie helped alot with changing just one setting. I changed others and it either didn't help or made things worse it that's possible. Im now trying to use a bluetooth keyboard which seems to be working well so far. Wow! What will I say when I no longer have any excuse for nonsense posts? Let's see if I can use this keyboard in the same way as my laptop's. I'm erasing all the experiments that don't work, BTW! Thanks everyone. Let's keep posting so we can help trouble shoot the rest of the gremlins others have! i'VE BBEEN USING MY NORMAL VRECOGNITION FOR THE lAST COUPLE OF DAYS AND THAT SEEMS MUCH IMPROVED ALSO. Sorry for the all caps!

That does seem so much better, glad something worked and hope it sticks. Otherwise we’ll just have to assume you’ve been on the booze for future scrambled posts, Vapor!

    Good one, Nollie!

The setting are slightly different with the Amazon KindleFire, but the one i changed had to do with underling mispells, and the the predictive options. Actually, i can use those,ut with a keyboard I don't have to any longer. Someone on another post mentioned they used an Amazon product, so maybe if they see this we can help sort them out.

Now I will have to work on fixing my phone, but I'll have to sign in to that first.😮

I post from my phone or tablet. I don't seem to have any problems normally. I get typos sometimes on my phone w the small keyboard lol. I try n type too fast and end up having to go back n fix it! I have unlimited data and my phone & tablet service is actually way more reliable than internet service out here in the FL boonies haha! We are in one of the counties in FL, that are way underserved for internet providers and the county and nearest town got millions in grants last year from the FL government to fix it! Do you think they did? Nope! We havent seen them..they were supposed to be running fiber optic out here and haven't done diddly. It kinda sucks because I was used to lightening fast internet where we used to live. I guess its a trade off..I almost never even hear a siren (ambulance or cops etc) , no traffic, and I can see every star in the night sky plus hardly any neighbors unless you count horses & cows :)

I am usually out running around doing something in the barn or on errands etc and I like that I can just post on my phone.

Sheila, I cancelled our internet totally and the cable service a yr ago. I dont really need it. I've discovered I can do anything on my phone & tablet that I would do with an internet provider. Use the internet, txt, email, upload, download photos etc, stream movies to my tv from Netflix, HBO apps or any other movie apps. using 'mirror screen' on my Samsung phone or tablet...and my unlimited family data plan is way cheaper than cable or internet out here with no bottlenecking/slowing down the data like our local internet providers do after a certain amt of data used. I would like to see decent internet providers for this area but really, only would use it for the desktop or laptop computers which I now barely use.

My younger son has a hack for playing online games on his desktop from his phone..He must be mirroring it somehow lol. So I probably could use my laptop but I never use it anymore anyways. I can transfer stuff to store on it from my sd card from my phone (another reason I like Samsung better than Apple) or from plain old email but that takes too long. I guess I can also use an usb to transfer date as well.

We have an hdtv antenna for local channels, news etc.

My daughter is in college and takes her laptop to the coffee shop or school etc and uses the free wifi internet for turning in paperwork etc.

I do like Starlink helping serve underserved areas, but if you are making it without internet I see your point, sultry.
