Tile Advice Needed - Small vs Large Format!

We're working on a tile project for our kitchen, hallway, and a den/living room (please excuse the current furniture setup in the photo 😊).

We’ve picked this tile, which comes in two sizes—12x24 and 24x48. My husband suggests using the larger tiles (24x48) in the kitchen and living room, and the smaller ones (12x24) in the hallway. I’m thinking of flipping that idea around!

What do you think would work best? Would love your input! Thanks in advance!

I agree with Minardi, and I don't understand why you would remove the wood in the foyer and iving room to install tile unless you're in a hot climate where this is the norm. Also, the tile in the kitchen probably extends under the cabinets. If you lay something else on top of the existing tile in the kitchen you could trap your appliances with the lip. The previous owners of our house did that and now we can't get the DW out to be fixed (and be able to put it back). You have a cabinet over your frig so there's a potential problem there as well. A flooring installer won't care about trapping your appliances because it's not their problem. So if you go ahead, be sure to have a discussion with them about it and see if they have thought about this issue and know a workaround.

Nothing but a 12x24 size. And a completely different tile. That's cold and not very very. If you are going to do tile. What's wrong with having wood through the whole thing though? It adds a needed warmth to most homes.

Go with 12 x 24 and use throughout. Personally, I think that tile is too light for your home. Too much contrast between the tile and your cabinetry/hardwood flooring. Why not something with a pattern?

Thanks for all the feedback. To answer your questions: 1.) We don't like having wood flooring near water sources , so don't want wood in the kitchen. 2.) The "wood" you see in the pictures is not wood, it's old laminate/vinyl flooring that we inherited when we bought the house. The living room floor has a cement slab under it so tile would be easier than wood flooring and the laundry room is off of the hallway and living room, so again we thought tile would be the better option. We will have a large area rug in that room to make it cozy. Would love any other thoughts, but thinking we'll go with the 12x24 all over per your comments.

That tile is s big no. It does not work, and you will regret it. Stick with a wood look tile if you don’t want real wood. But there is zero reason to not us real engineered wood everywhere.

PLease no patterened tile but why not just do the wood floor you already have in some spaces that is the perfect way to do this . You could do engineered wood so the slab would be no issue and that tile is not a great choice with the stuff you have IMO 24 x48 tile is not a good idea for many tile setters and in a redo a huge problem . The fact about the tile on top of another flooring in the kitchen is a real issue . Wood floor in a kitchen has been around forever and still anice choice for all the flooring to be the same through the whole house it waill make the space feel much larger too . You will not be able to put thetile on top of any of the floor you have so might as well do it right the first time .Even a nice LVP everyjhere is IMO better than tile . Tile is hard on feet and backs and knees and I hate to say but there is no flooring that stands up to a flood and that includes tile since the underlay still gets wet and so does and wood structure underneath
