Bathroom Finishes

Hello my beautiful Houzz peeps! I have here a bathroom floor tile design dilemma. I picked up a sample of this absolutely gorgeous 1 " marble hex tile and now I'm thinking of it for our master bath floor. I put it next to this paint sample board I have in Ben Moore classic grey and it looks really pretty together. I have selected a vanity in a driftwood finish ( maybe not the best choice but I am going to with the showroom and see if it's not too late to change the color or wood finish 🙄)

I wonder if I go with a hex floor 1" or maybe even bigger what is the rule of thumb for the counter top? I have to have one put on when we get our kitchen tops so I'm hoping to find a cool left over piece. I don't want to limit my options by putting a pattern on the floor or am I overthinking this like I've done with everything in this house ?

I'd probably do marble for the countertop too or, if you don't want marble upkeep, see if there's a quartz that might work. We went the quartz route but found one that played well with our marble shower thresholds. (A solid color might also work if you pull something that matches the colors in the tile or the grout.) Take the paint and tile samples with you to local stoneyards to find a remnant that works. Also think about what grout you plan to use--you can pull the tones very differently if you use lighter vs. darker grout colors.

Oh, I totally get what you're saying! Those little hexes can be gorgeous, but 1-inch on the floor might look a bit busy, especially with strong patterns. Maybe try 2-inch? As for the countertop – definitely go with something subtle so it doesn’t overshadow the floor.

I know, overthinking can be such a trap! I keep changing my mind with projects too. 😊
