Alyssum specimen

There was a time earlier in the summer that I had made a mental note to *not* include alyssum in my pots next season as it was just limping through this season but then at some point the "ugly duckling" turned beautiful swan. Here is PW "Violet Prince".

Wow that's spectacular! How many alyssum plants are in there? IS that a seperate pot on the step above, or all one pot?

Thanks @diggerdee zone 6 CT and @socalgal_gw Zone USDA 10b Sunset 24.

'Dee', that is/was a single alyssum (4" pot) planted in May. In the same dark grey pot, harder to see, is a single "Egyptian Star" (but it has had a hard time 'fending' off the alyssum ;).

Wow is right! I grow the white alyssum every year, but it peters out by mid-summer and I toss it then -- it gets too hot for them to do well from high summer onwards. I've never grown a fancy-schmancy P.W. cultivar, though -- maybe those have more heat tolerance?
