I have always picked a blind/shade color that matched the trim in the house.

If you match the wall color ... what happens a few years down the road when trends change and you want to paint the walls a different color? You get stuck with blinds that might look awful with your new wall color.

I have always had "white" trim, so all my shades/blinds have been a white that matches.

I wouldn't worry about what is trending.

Pick a blind/shade that provides the function(s) you need ... light filtering, sun blocking, black-out, night time privacy, bottom-up/top-down feature, etc.

The windows face your yard, are not on an intimate space (bedroom, bathroom), and are protected from the sun by an awning. Why do you want to cover them? Having big, uncovered windows is an asset.
