I would not do a gallery wall due to all the items on your bookshelf. Look for one large oversized peice of art, or possibly a set with two vertical pieces. There are so many fun, colorful options available that would show your interests or personality of your family. If you have a tight budget, you can even frame handmade wrapping paper or wallpaper. You might also consider removing some of the photos on your shelves and replace them with stoarge baskets, books, pottery, etc. so you have more of a mix.

With three young children (and I’m sure it’s a well used room), I’d take advantage of this area based on their ages/needs. A cozy play area where they can read, play, color, etc is what I’d do.

I'd get as many big poster-sized frames as you have kids and display their art. You want the frames easy to remove and to replace the art. Or, you could do a magnetic paint and use magnets to put the art up.

Here is a bigger picture of the space! It’s our living room where we already have a sectional couch so additional seating isn’t totally necessary!

I would put a low dresser and/or series of toy bins along that wall, with some nice art over.

I really want to move the bookcase there and add another to it. Hard to say if that would work, depending on the configuration of the rest of the room. If you have two bookcases flanking the window and they aren't permanently attached, try them on that wall. You can trim them out so they look like one large unit. Your house is really pretty and the Halloween decorations are great!!

It also looks like you could move the whole seating arrangement down to the right quite a bit (maybe turn the rug longways and move the tv to that wall with a console below it. Then hang a nice piece of art over the fireplace.

First you need a larger rug..it should cover the area where the kids play too! this will help make the room feel larger and more cohesive. I would add a upholstered storage bench on that wall..it needs softness with that air conditioner unit in the wall and bookcase there. something soft for the kids..adds some pillows for them to sit on for playing and reading…would look so inviting. for the wall maybe add 4 black frames that open in front to change out artwork or family photos…
