Cabinet hardware and backsplash opinions
Entering final stages of kitchen upgrades and I have several decisions to finalize. Still need to install crown molding, hardware and backsplash. I have ordered a cabinet hardware, but haven’t installed it yet. I just want to make sure it isn’t too heavy and I don’t want it to look too busy. I thinking the door style and size of the styles requires something of some substance. Just want to be sure before we drill holes! I am also having great difficulty picking a backsplash. The perimeter countertops are calacutta Miraggio Duo quartz and the island is soapstone. Not sure if I should go with something like calacatta gold tiles or plain ceramic subway tiles. Thoughts
on either would be appreciated.

To see variations/sources, search Pinterest for “black Zellige tile”. They are lovely, but read about pros/cons if they are right for you.

At first I thought an all black backsplash would be too dark, but I played with the visualizer on Tilebar and since your area is small, it looks really good. I recommend that you try it yourself with several different options, then order samples of the ones you like best. (Warning - it's addictive!) In case it helps you visualize, I screen captured a few ideas with black and white, all black, all white, and then a color.

last yearFirst - your soapstone slab is BEAUTIFUL!! I've always liked soapstone - I keep seeing more slabs installed which is making me reconsider my marble plans. . .
I really like the natural look of soapstone (not oiled) - it appears that you have a piece of your soapstone sitting on top of your island that has been sealed/oiled/color enhanced. Are you planning on leaving it "as is" - or will you be enhancing the color = making it darker?
What do your perimeter countertops look like up close? From this far away, they seem to be mostly white - with just very light veining. If it's actually busier than it appears in your photo, you'll need to be careful about installing a backsplash that is too busy.
When I first saw the tiles posted by @Sabrina Alfin Interiors, I thought, "Hmmm. . .not sure about those." I should have known better - she seems to always come up with things that you wouldn't think about - but looks interesting/fun.
If you like those zellige tiles, you might want to look at Bedrosian Cloe Black tiles - they are a faux zellige tile made in Spain (manufactured by Equipe Ceramicas - and sold by a few different retailers). They have irregular edges in order to look handmade like true zellige tile - but they don't have the chips that real zellige tile will have (some people aren't prepared for that - and don't like it when they actually receive the zellige tiles). They come in a 2.5 x 8 or 5 x 5 size.
There is quite a bit of variation in the tiles. I have Cloe tile in white in one of my guest bathrooms + have baby blue (it's called Aqua by Equipe Ceramicas - which is a more accurate word to describe the color) for another bathroom vanity wall.
If you decide that you might want to use this tile, you should order an entire box from Lowe's or even Wal-Mart (both had free shipping + 90 day free returns to the brick and mortar stores with no restocking fees - my tiles from Wal-mart were shipped to me directly from Bedrosian- I can't remember if the ones from Lowe's were or not). You can't really tell what the tile looks like by ordering just a sample due to the variation (I think it might be designated V4 - which my understanding is the highest variation).
Just thought I'd show you these since you asked about the zellige tiles that were posted in an above comment + commented that you might like an all black backsplash. While I've really liked some kitchens that have used real zellige tile backsplashes, it is quite a bit more expensive than the Cloe tile. I also wasn't sure how difficult real zellige tile would be re: cleaning since I was going to use my Cloe White tile as a shower surround.
When I purchased my Cloe tile, it was before it became SO POPULAR - and it was around $6.99 sf. The price went up to almost double that amount at some point - but it has come back down again (I don't think it's come back down to the price I paid, but I've seen it closer to $8 sf - it can vary quite a bit depending upon where you purchase it).
Q - what type of wood was used for your cabinets + what color stain was used? I assume that your island has the same stained cabinets.

Dani_m08, Thank you for your comments and for an alternative for the zellige tiles. There are so many backsplash options I have become overwhelmed!
We absolutely love our soapstone slab as well and it is by far my favorite aspect of our project. We do prefer the darker stone and I actually waxed it today. I just love how the veins really pop with the darker background.
Our cabinets are maple and the perimeter cabinets have an Amaretto stain. The island is painted Irish cream which is basically our wall color and the darker veining in the soapstone.

LOL. Have to wonder where some people get their narrow/inflexible design ideas?
Look at all these low end houses with low budget homeowners. LOLMaybe the beams might be a hint as to why cabinets don't always need to run to the ceiling?

Your kitchen is beautiful. Be careful of listening to some of the opinions on this site that suggest otherwise. I did black mist granite perimeter (looks like soapstone) and a quartz island and LOVE it! I really like some of the ideas mentioned about the Zellige black tiles. I probably wouldn’t gravitate toward patterns - only because I personally may get sick of it. I love them for a powder bath but probably not my kitchen. The hardware you picked is really pretty.
