I'd paint all the trim black before you go to the expense of changing the door.

No to the double doors. Your door is perfectly suited to your beautiful brick home. I'd leave it as is.

Double doors are impractical unless you have staff! Opening both doors is a lot of faff and you end up squeezing through an unnecessarily narrow door.

One downfall of having double doors is that now you must purchase two of every door decoration. Twice the expense and twice the storage needs.

Double doors are inherent leakers and you have zero protection. Big no to the double doors. Your door is fine,. the storm door is the issue. Get a white storm door, nothing black with that brick. And honestly to get an opinion on a front door style you really need to show the entire house.

I do not think the new choice is better as far as looks are concerned the best is to paint all the trim on the old door black. Sidelights IMO are always part of the door and all of thta should be one color.I do like double doors sometimes but they have issues too. I think come spring maybe a nice spruce up with some color in the landscaping would be money well spent even the orange and purple right now brings life to that exterior

@Patricia Colwell Consulting Thank you, what do you think about the large living room window and white trim etc? Leave as is with all white? I do agree I could start with the painting all the trim black. The summer is in full bloom with many colors of landscaping etc. We did all that 2 years ago

There is nothing wrong with the white trim on the bay window. It looks great, actually. Black would be dreary and unwelcoming.

I agree with kandrewspa. I think painting the bay window black would likely be something you'd end up regretting.

Paint the door trim black. Leave the windows alone - your black shutters are a good contrast.

Just wondering if the entrance would feel cave like with black trim and the large window will become more prominent. It’s only a quart of paint to test the font door and would have probably needed repainting if you decide to do the trim. I’d also remove the kick plate.

@Maureen is right - start with the door, then step back and see if the white trim now looks better.

100%. Not black with that brick ever in my opinion. If you absolutely will not leave it all white, use a Bronze color (Urban Bronze or the like). Brick is a warm color. Urban Bronze is a warm color. Black is COLD. Just my .02.

Oh, I would not paint the trim or the sidelights black. I think your house is really beautiful, and I'd leave well enough alone.
