Is it safe to purchase roses from One Love Rose And Garden at this time forth? Are their bushes true three gallon size, well grown, and shipped well? Thank you.

Since no one else has responded, I'll just chime in with what I've heard. Eventually some people have gotten the roses they ordered, but it was lengthy and messy. The prices at One Love even with 40% off sales were well over $50/plant, and the Jalberts that I had eyed at One Love are now available at Spring Hilltop Farm for much less, and grafted to boot.

I don't plan to order from them in the near future without a lot better reviews and more reasonable prices.

Thank you, thank you! Cynthia to the rescue! They're on the back burner for me now.

Cynthia, I Googled "Spring Hilltop Farm" and got nothing. Any help? Thanks!

I just now looked at the One Love website. I saw Dee Lish, Beverly and Kosmos each for “30% off 3 gallon pot size Grafted $42.99”. I see this contrasts with info nipstress reported. I did not look at shipping cost - possibly nipstress incorporated shipping cost into the figure she reported. Note the ”Grafted” I saw now.

Looks like Moses was looking for reports from people who may have ordered from them relatively recently (“ … at this time forth’).

    Susan,

In case Cynthia doesn't return to this post...

The name should be 'Sweet' Hilltop Farm not 'Spring'. Sweet Hilltop Farm has some much sought after offerings. This nursery may be a rising star, go to, much needed online nursery since so many are closing.

I looked up Sweet HIlltop Farm also....they do have a lot of nice ones, a good shipping deal and they even have Chandos Beauty. They're in Oklahoma.

I also believe Sweet Hilltop Farm's grafted roses are on R. multiflora root stocks. R. multiflora root stocks seem to do better in colder climates and with clayey soils.

Oklahoma is where OSU researchers were (and likely still are) maintaining rose plots where study subjects were/are exposed to rrd-infected roses growing nearby.

Best to be sure Sweet Hilltop is not downwind from those roses.

    Because

“Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain.
Where the waving wheat can sure smell sweet
when the wind comes right behind the rain.”

Thanks, Moses, for the clarification. Another source for roses on multiflora is a great thing! I have been to this website earlier this year... tipped off by a friend in Oklahoma :-D

    Rifis,

I know that musical. However, something inside a rosarian still brings out the poet also from within.

Oh yes you're right - I was going from memory and it's a new nursery to me. It's Sweet Hilltop Farm. I have a good sized order coming for spring so I'm happy to be a guinea pig. I am unfortunately experienced at recognizing signs of RRD so I'll keep my eye out. Given that RRD is everywhere in areas of the midwest and other locations, I don't think they'd be any more susceptible than other locations.

@Moses, Pitt PA, cold W & hot-humid S, z6, I was one who did not receive my order in 2023. I accepted a credit and crossing my fingers, I used it for a 2024 order. I received my order this spring and the plants were quite good, but I never would have paid those prices for tge plants plus shipping if I didn’t have the credit to use.

I’ll chime in on One Love. I bought a few roses from them almost 2 yrs ago and never received my roses. I’ve emailed them several times and have never received an email reply. I’m writing my order off like I did with Garden LLC. I’m just glad that I didn’t spend hundreds of dollars.

Markay, so they gave you a credit, no cash refund. No good! What made them think that you still wanted to do business with them? That's bad, bad business. And then you did receive nice roses the next year, but, "a year later!" which you would not have gotten if you had not been forced to use your credit to buy their roses. A forced purchase, ouch! This gives them a big black eye in my book.

ocbrian1, You never got your roses, and they never responded to any of your emails. That's ridiculous! Sorry that you got such a raw deal.

To be fair, they also gave me a 25% off code for my inconvenience. Also, I really did want those Jalberts and at the time they weren’t available anywhere else.

They completely shutdown phones abd ignored email. The only way I was able to contact them was via Facebook messenger, so I actually feel pretty fortunate that I ended up with the beautiful roses I wanted.

I’ve decided to become an influencer. Or should it be ”thought leader”, as I’m not big on exclamation marks?

Tonight, I see that One Love indicates it will ship a ”3 gallon” Kosmos to NJ for a total price of $31.46, when using a ”March” promotion code.

    I haven’t ordered it, though I’m tempted.

Has anybody here ordered any roses with One Love that were custom propogated? They have some discontinued Austin's but can't find any information and reviews around this.

I know it posted this somewhere last year but I was one of the folks who got burned by them . Placed a big order and then never heard back, couldn’t get a straight answer from customer support, basically called it a wash and that was all I could do . I think I got a refund from PayPal .

Randomly, Cole ( the owner ) reached out to me and profusely apologized. He offered to send the roses right away free of charge and he was very sincere . Only two of them were available .. devotion and angels something or other I can’t recall the name .

They arrived in beautiful shape , 3 gallon just like I’d expect . I was very pleased with the quality.

He said he’d send out the other in spring . I’m not sure he’ll remember but it’s ok if not . I’m happy I got what I did . I would recommend them for ordered being shipped this year .

I don’t know about their custom propagation ones . I’ve seen them share videos on Instagram of them with beautiful roots .

I think they’d be safe to order from now . ☺️

    That’s good to know, Lilyfinch.

I don’t think I am going to order the Kosmos after all. It would have been to replace one that had been viciously and repeatedly attacked by aggressive rabbits who moved into the garden about three years ago. Early last spring, I thought it was dead, but once I saw a sign of life, I dug it up and moved it behind fence protection. It went sideways last year. Hopefully it will pick up this year. Hope springs eternal. I don’t need instant perfection.

It was part of my initial Palatine order many years ago. Pre-rabbit, it had thrived in a planting hole comprised of 100% homegrown compost (no mineral soil).

Aw rifis that is such a bumemr the rabbits did that to your rose ! i hope it recovers .

Rabbits have become a constant threat to my highly urban garden, and I do mean urban! An oasis garden here and there throughout my particular old Pittsburgh neighborhood is the norm, with brick and steel buildings abounding. Rabbits, which were never an issue in the over 50 years that I have lived in my house, are now an everyday probability for the last 6-7 years. I have two sized live traps. One for the rabbitlets who are too small to trip the adult sized trap, and the larger trap is how I deal with any sized rabbit above miniscule.

I know the rabbit miseries...gone through then time and again, and don't expect a reprieve. So, Rifis, you are not alone.

Don't forget that One Love are the people who bought our formerly beloved Chamblees several years ago, and massively ripped off people buying from them for a couple of years. I only mention this because in the recent threads discussing Cole and One Love and GRF, no one has mentioned the Chamblees debacle.

I did want to update that I receieved a response after about a week. I sent three emails in all, one checking on the status, a follow up the same day with my order number and receipt and a couple days later a general follow up after not hearing back. I receieved a reaponse that the rose is ready for shipping. I will let y’all know if it gets delivered.

@Echo_Texas_zone9a any update on the Heathcliff rose you were supposed to get?
