What do I do with this Fridge!!!

last year
last modified: last year

Hi i have a kitchen that the firdge just seem to be in the worse position. We are also open to getting a new fridge. It seems like there is no good place to put in and it takes up so much space. We have tried turning it but I feel like nothing seems right! would love to add some cabinets and hide the trash can as well. Any advice on what to do or how to fix it? We also HATE the blue and the brown cabinets

Turn it, move it down, and add a cabinet or table between it and the door. Can you turn the door to hinge on the right instead of the left? That would orient your entry to a landing pad of sorts instead of dropping things on the counter next to the range. OTOH, you wouldn’t be able to have the door open while cooking, if you do that.

    1. Paint the walls

    2. Rotate the fridge so it faces the kitchen

    3. Add a pantry cabinet to the right of the fridge

    4. Add a base cabinet to the left of the fridge, with a trash pullout and a counter for a landing spot for the fridge.

You aren't going to match your existing cabinets, so find something that complements them. Check Habitat Restore or Facebook Marketplace.

The above suggestions are good ones for utilizing that wall space AND containing the fridge. If you don’t like the blue walls with the brown cabinets, paint the walls! That is an EASY, inexpensive fix. Your wooden cabinets are coming back into vogue, and the countertops and flooring works well with them. I would choose a cream color for your walls, and then…above the new countertop (perhaps butcher block?) on the cabinet suggested to the left of your fridge, some art or a fun poster? Or even some wooden shelves with pretty ceramics displayed on them. Again…Check Habitat Restore!

Agree. Put it where you currently have the trash can and face the fridge doors opposite the cabinets. Then you could find a narrow butcher block island on wheels next to the fridge into the corner. You might have to have an electrician come to put in the correct outlet in the wall where the fridge will be.

As Sabrina has suggested I would put the fridge where the trash can currently is and facing the sink. Then cupboards along the wall to the wall, creating a galley. You could have pull out trash cans built into the cupboard opposite where the sink is for ease of access from your work area.

Personally I'd leave the cabinets natural wood and repaint the walls in a lighter colour.

Think about if you could live with a smaller one and turn it so that it faces the cabinets.

What is on the other side of the wall? Wondering if an opening could be made like a 1-foot-deep niche to allow fridge to recess into that spot (center of wall).

    SUPERKALL Built-in, panel-ready refrigerator, panel-ready, 8.8 cu.ft - IKEA

This is an integrated frig/freezer from IKERA with a 5 year warranty. Small because it fits within a standard 24" deep cabinet. The doors are reversible so two can be installed together like a SubZero. At a fraction of the price. But still an expense. Depends of your need for function from your space. You can incorporate this in a cabinet into a run with 36" wide 3 drawer base cabinets and counter work zone space. Add good overhead led lighting located 6" in from the edge of the counter with a minimum of 450 lumens at the counter surface to avoid shadowing from your body.

I like that IKEA shallow panel-ready refrigerator! I'd put two or three of them together, would be plenty of volume and nothing gets lost in the way-back.

OP, you can re-face the existing cabinets to match the new ones you put in on the refrigerator wall.

This idea, and you can look into Ikea Kitchen Cabinets to customize.

I would actually prefer a counter next to the fridge, to provide a landing spot.
