I love a traditional home, but somehow, I just cannot get with all those squares on windows at all. I wouldn't want them.

I know they're called mullions, or faux mullions, or whatever. Why not just have clear glass without any of that?

Is this a regional thing? Because (here in SoCal) you just don't see those very often, even on homes that resemble this lovely home. I just want to be able to see out the window. Why is it a decorative element? It doesn't seem in any way functional in our modern age. Need a pro to explain it, because there's probably a "right" answer, based on the style of your beautiful traditional home.

6/6 on the doghouses, and 8/8 on the balance. If going with GBG's I may leave them out entirely.

We hoped to refresh the design a bit during our interior remodel and replacement windows. We really dislike the busy 8/8 pattern. So maybe a 6 pane sash is the compromise?

Do you have any thoughts/opinions on whether a 6/1 would be appropriate for the front porch windows?

What is the window width. My concern is consistency and the size of the glass with the muntins. Too large of a glass lite cut size looks odd in my opinion.

millworkman, the dormer windows are 33" wide and the larger windows are 37" wide

They look larger in the pics but if that is the size I would go with 6/6.

I think 6 over 6 is appropriate as well. 6 over 1 was common on Colonial revivals in the early 20th century

I would go with zero were it me. But 8 over 8 is way busy.

6/1 everywhere if you are doing a 1-lite lower sash on the porch.
