How to fill a hole in walls

I removed a gas dryer vent from my home (approx 4” hole). I dry walled over and plan to cut out and replace with bricks on the exterior.

But how do I fill the hole in the wall board? I need something between the brick and insulation.

Should I fill with spray foam? Tyvek house paper?

I’m concerned about any water / condensation inside the wall running down and getting into the pink insulation or drywall. Not to mention a heat leak.

Hi, just an idea, your brick looks nice I don't think a patch will look good. How about putting in a new vent. just an idea, install a new vent, trim off what is needed for a good fit. Then spray in some expanding foam inside the vent. When dry install the new vent.

My dryer vents thru a 4” rigid aluminum pipe out an interior and exterior wall to a louvre vent. It’s a 4 foot run of pipe.

Electric dryers need vents, too, so if you are putting a new, electric dryer in, you'll need the vent. Spray foam insulation should be just fine. If you have a significant condensation problem inside your walls, fiddling with your dryer vent hole isn't going to change that. Ditto if you don't.

The only reason this is here is because I moved the gas dryer and laundry to a new location in the home as part of a remodel

As Sigrid pointed out, the hole in wallboard has been there since house was built,no reason it should begin leaking now.

I’m probably going to put a rhododendron in front of to block area.
